We all know by now that Susan Boyle didn't win "Britain has Talent." It's spread all through the media. "Susan Boyle comes second! Susan Boyle is runner-up. Unfortunately, Boyle misses title!" But what I thought sadly curious is that the winners received no accolades at all. Not down here, anyway. All I know is they were a dancing troupe but I don't think I even heard or saw their name mentioned on the media. They deserve a bit of a plug too, don't they? The guys just won a national title!!
Susan Boyle is a remarkable lady with an inspirational story and a wonderful voice. We all know that by now. But these dancers obviously put hours and hours of blood, sweat and tears into their act too. I hope they haven't had the gloss rubbed off their victory by the way the world media has brushed them to the side to focus on their rival.
I saw something similar in the Autralian Open Tennis this summer, when Rafael Nadal apologised to the crowd for beating Roger Federer. If I had the chance to have something broadcast, I'd say, "How about a bit of sportsmanship?"

It is a shame people feel the need to apologize for winning. I guess it just shows how audiences can so fall in love with a person (personality?) that the winners can feel their disappointment.
Susan Boyle is out there now. I'm sure she will do fine. And so will what's-their-names, the dancers. ;o)

How funny - just a few hours ago, I was listening to a sports writer who was talking about that very same tennis match between Nadal and Federer. A weird twist of fate to win yet be shown up by the loser. Not fair but not surprising in our strangely stupid world, especially in the media.

My husband mentioned that your book review was probably in an Australian "Christian Woman" magazine so I wouldn't find it around here. Is there an Aussie "Christian Woman" magazine? We just wondered. Years ago, when Todd and I were still living in California, I had a letter to the editor published in an issue of "Christian Woman" magazine - I still have that copy. Anyway, I hope you find an issue.

You know what??? I didn't even know the contest was over and that she had lost. Wow. That shows you how little I was paying attention and how little news I watch. I'm guessing she was a winner on youtube. LOL
